Conyers Tells Rob Kall: Impeachment Not Off the Table; A You Tube Video make sure you watch the video. It was a pretty intense toe to toe conversation. I know I enjoyed it and I think Conyers did too. There's a moment, when he reminds me who in congress has more experience with impeachment than anyone else, when he seems quite amused. Make sure to read the commentary AFTER the script, and note that I added to it, if you commented on the article, criticizing Conyers. You'll want to read what I've written. I promise to follow up on this conversation, with Conyers, Kucinich and others.

Back to the turn of the century

Memories of being best friends forever and promises of love flooded their minds as they waited to open the can.“Good memories," said Jasper Jackson, now a senior at Salem High School. While catching up, the group waited anxiously for their former fourth-grade teacher, Ashley Duffey , to open the tin and discover what they placed inside.Duffey didn't remember everything the students placed inside but she recalls telling the students to write their future dreams and wishes along with drawing a picture of how they thought they would look.“I think I put something stupid in there," said Tyler Brown, a senior at Patrick Henry High School. “I just want to see."Tyler brought along his mother, Bonnie Brown, to the event. Brown, who often volunteered with Tyler's class while he was at Raleigh Court Elementary, said she wanted to see if Tyler placed one of her belongings in the tin eight years ago.“I want to see what he put in there, and plus I want to see if he put something he wasn't supposed to in there," she said.

Dodgers' Schmidt shut down, at least temporarily

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Jason Schmidt, the Dodgers' rehabilitating right-hander who has been battling fatigue in his surgically repaired shoulder in recent days, has been told not to throw again until further notice.

Schmidt is expected to resume throwing in a few days, and although both manager Joe Torre and trainer Stan Conte said the development wasn't a cause for concern, they admitted that it effectively eliminates any chance of Schmidt being ready by the start of the regular season.

"I told him we want to proceed very slowly with him, and he doesn't get any extra points for being ready early," Torre said. "Early in the season, we can probably get by without a fifth starter, as opposed to trying to force something and running into trouble later on. I have not been warned (by Conte) that this is a problem.

Blue eyes study find DNA link

If you have blue eyes, chances are you could be related somehow to Brad Pitt, Frank Sinatra, and the estimated 300 million other people on this Earth who also have blue eyes. That's the finding from researchers at Copenhagen University in Denmark, who have determined that every person with blue eyes descended somehow from one person whose genes mutated about 10,000 years ago. Before then, everyone had brown eyes. The mutation blocked the pigment responsible for making brown eyes, resulting in a blue iris. Scientists began this research in the 1970's, when they studied a family with three generations of blue eyes. They were able to pinpoint the exact spot in their genetic make-up that gave them blue eyes. When they compared those genes to over 150 people around the world with blue eyes, they all had the exact same DNA in that specific region of the blue-eyed gene.

Of Whales and War

World War II interrupted these studies and the business of whaling. German whale chasers were employed instead to hunt Allied submarines, and Japanese whaling ships transported miniature submarines across the Pacific to attack Pearl Harbor. The suspension of the hunt likely saved many whales in the Southern Hemisphere, at least for a while. Yet the extensive use of depth charges and bombs in the north probably killed thousands of cetaceans.

It wasn't until after the war that biologists probed the ocean and began to listen to the whales themselves. The acoustician William Schevill made the first recordings of cetaceans in the wild in the 1950s, going on to describe the calls of more than 30 marine mammal species, including sperm whales, blue whales, dolphins and seals. Schevill's knowledge of these underwater sounds was so extensive that he helped defuse a tense moment between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
